Mabawa’s activities encompass the Great Lakes region of Congo DRC and Rwanda.  In recent decades, the area has suffered a strong regression of living conditions and development as result of the 1994 Rwandan Genocide and protracted regional wars since 1998.


We are:

June 1998

a group of friends get together to help abandoned children in Congo R.D.C.

January 2004

the importance and scope of the work sees the establishment of NGO Mabawa, Switzerland- Wings for Africa.

June 2007

Mabawa Ali per l'Africa ONLUS (Italy) is founded in Milan to give the NGO more visibility and a better chance at pursuing its goals.

Human Capital is the foundation for all Mabawa Projects.

The success and value of all its projects ultimately rest on the ability to involve the local population to reduce poverty initially but more so increase access to opportunity, and create prosperity and well-being in a developing community.

While supporting, funding and developing projects, Mabawa is attentive to serving the needs and desires of the population in a sustainable and scalable manner within the local social and environmental context of a rural reality.

Mabawa believes this is a way that efficiently and efficaciously leads to self-reliance, economic prosperity, welfare and good governance; locally at first and eventually in a broader framework.
